It’s a Honda and is powered by a 1,237cc, V4 engine which has been installed for the first time in a Honda adventure sports touring motorcycle. The engine has been optimised for stronger low and medium rpm drive, delivering smooth power to make the Crosstourer feel effortless on long rides.
Boasting the option of Honda’s Dual Clutch Transmission, the Crosstourer is a supremely versatile motorcycle as seamless and smooth gear changes are ensured. Using two electronically controlled clutches, the system offers the choice of manual gear shifting and two fully automatic modes one for general use and another for high performance riding.
Chosen for its excellent weight to rigidity balance, the Crosstourer’s die-cast aluminium frame mounts long-travel suspension systems front and rear to deliver an engaging riding experience and a comfortable ride.
Designed to excel on a huge variety of road surfaces, the front and rear suspension systems both offer generous amounts of controlled, bump-absorbing travel. The rigid 43mm upside-down telescopic forks offer reassuring control with precise steering and stability, even during hard cornering and heavy braking. Meanwhile, the Pro-Link rear suspension configuration combines strong traction with ride quality. Both the front forks and rear shock are adjustable for both tension and preload, allowing riders to alter chassis characteristics to suit their riding style and intended usage.
Honda’s Traction Control System (TCS) and Combined ABS underline the new machine’s any-road, any-weather capability. The two ensure rider peace of mind, even in low-grip conditions.
Honda’s new Crosstourer has been designed with stylish functionality in mind; sharp edges accentuate its rugged adventure style while a non-bulky front gives a feeling of lightness and communicates refined sportiness.
The Crosstourer is a machine designed to give its rider the feeling that anything is possible: no journey is too long or too demanding and no road or surface impassable. The Crosstourer will surpass expectation when faced with any riding terrain and will respond to any riding style.
Available in April 2012, the Crosstourer will be available in two striking colours; Pearl Sunbeam White and Candy Prominence Red.

The Australian, who led his heat race from start to finish didn’t get a great start in the ‘Main Event’ but charged through the field and into second place on Lap 3 of the 20-lap contest.
As the race unfolded, Reed began to close in on race leader Ryan Villopoto and after a bar-to-bar battle with his rival, he moved into lead on Lap 18.
An aggressive Villopoto block pass saw Reed relinquish the lead on the final lap, the Honda rider happy to take second place after a solid 20-lap duel.
“I am really happy that I rode 20 solid laps tonight,” Reed said.
“Ryan (Villopoto) started to gap me on laps 9 – 11 and I found myself being lazy in the turns.
“He races for it on every inch of the racetrack so I said to myself quit being lazy and get out there and fight for this thing,” he continued.
“I was able to get back on him and make a pass but he was real aggressive and made a pass back. I have to be a little more aggressive and make things happen
“The changes that we have made through these West Coast events have been good. I am excited to be heading back to Florida with a good solid 20 lap race under my belt,” Reed added.
Reed will now return to his Florida base and prepare for Round 7 of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross, the first of the East Coast events, at Arlington’s Cowboys Stadium on Saturday February 18.

GEICO Honda’s Eli Tomac, of Cortez, Colo., also captured his first Western Regional Supercross Lites Class main event win of the season.

After winning the Nuclear Cowboyz® Holeshot, Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Jake Weimer, of Wildomar, Calif., held the lead position until being passed by Reed on Lap 6. Toyota/Yamaha/JGRMX’s James Stewart, of Haines City, Fla., made a pass on Weimer for second place, and during the pass, Weimer crashed, falling to 14th place.

Red Bull KTM’s Ryan Dungey, who won last weekend’s race in Phoenix, settled into fourth place behind Stewart. Dungey was able to capitalize on a crash by Stewart on Lap 12 as he took over the number three position.

Reed earned his 41st Supercross Class main event and third consecutive podium finish of the season. Dungey, who finished second, has also been on the podium at every race this season and now sits in the points lead. Stewart finished a season-best third place.

“I have been trying to figure out what I have been doing wrong this year,” said Reed. “I switched to a tire that I used last year and it worked. I am going to keep trying to get better each week. I will take the good with the bad and keep moving forward.”

In the Western Regional Supercross Lites Class main event, Tomac quickly passed Nuclear Cowboyz Holeshot winner Martin Davalos, of the Rockstar Suzuki team, shortly after turn one and rode flawlessly for the next 15 laps. On lap 6, Monster Energy Yamaha’s Zach Osborne, of Chesterfield, S.C., passed Davalos, for the number two position. While riding in third place, Davalos crashed and lost several positions before reentering the race.

Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Dean Wilson, who won last weekend’s main event in Phoenix, passed Osborne on lap 12, where he would finish. Wilson currently sits in second place. Osborne earned a career-best third-place finish.

Tomac’s win marked the third of his career, and he is now the Western Regional Supercross Lites Class points leader, one point ahead of Wilson.

“I was able to sneak into the lead and ride 15 solid laps,” said Tomac. “It’s a night and day difference when you get a good start. I should have been getting starts like this all season.”

Due for Australian release in early February, the 2012 CBR1000RR will impress riders with advanced technology and even greater performance. It’s a Honda and true to its predecessors, superior handling and even greater rideability are paramount to this legendary release.
With the aim of improving handling and achieving unprecedented levels of riding stability, the 2012 Fireblade boasts changes to the front and rear suspension. The rear suspension has the additional benefit of the world’s first balance-free rear cushion made by Showa while the front features a telescopic inverted fork with an inner tube and a newly adapted Showa big piston front fork. The result of these suspension modifications is significantly improved stability in both damping force and shock-absorbing performance, leading to improved traction and stability in the new CBR1000RR.
A newly designed, 12-spoke, lightweight aluminium cast wheel has been adopted for both the front and rear. Due to the increased number of spokes, rigidity has been further evened out for load received in all directions from the tyre contact points which offers improved manoeuvring feel.
Every generation of the Honda Fireblade has been characterised by a look of speed and dynamism, for 2012 these qualities have been further developed to highlight the bike’s racing image. With a line-beam headlight and air intake shapes adding even greater sharpness, the new CBR1000RR offers a novel and intrepid front face.
A new all-digital LCD meter design offers a truly racing inspired image offering excellent visibility and high functionality and with a 5-level display, the REV indicator linked to a digital tachometer instantly transmits accurate information to the rider.
The lightweight and compact, liquid-cooled DOHC inline 4-cylinder engine features a displacement of 999cc. The Programmed Dual Sequential Fuel Injection System (PGM-DSFI) was revisited and enhanced for 2012 to make a sports model that is even easier and more fun to handle.
Like its predecessor, the new CBR1000RR is equipped with the Honda Electronic Steering Damper (HESD) ensuring strong and stable handling. The optional feature of Combined ABS, developed as a world first by Honda in 2009, is available on this legendary supersports model enabling the 2012 Fireblade to boast even higher levels of controllability.
Honda’s initial Fireblade concept was to create the most lightweight bike that allowed riders to experience the joy of riding, by incorporating new safety features and cutting-edge technologies, Honda’s legendary 2012 CBR1000RR stays true to this.
With a competitive MLRP of $18,490 (standard) and $19,490 (ABS) the 2012 Honda CBR1000RR is sure to hit the Australian market with speed once it is release in early February, 2012.
